One-Year Specialisation Programmes
Renewal of the Residence permit for non EU citizens
You must present the request for renewal at least 60 days before the expiration date of the permit.
Please note: Residence Permits for study reasons are renewed for students who in the first year of their degree programme pass a test (un esame) and in the following years pass at least two more tests (due esami). For serious health problems or natural disasters, duly documented, the residency permit can be renewed for students who have only passed one test, subject to the total number of renewals.
They cannot however be renewed for more than three years beyond the duration of the degree programme.
The Residence Permit may be further renewed in order to obtain a specialisation diploma or a PhD, for the entire duration of the degree programme, renewable for one year (art. 46, comma 4, D.P.R. 394/99).
Documents requested to apply for the study residency permit:
- Your passport;
- Residency permit (permesso di soggiorno) about to expire;
- Italian tax code (codice fiscale);
- A copy of your passport (just the pages with your personal data and the one with the Visa stamp);
- A special stamp (marca da bollo) which costs €16,00 (which you may buy at any Tobacco Shop);
- Enrollment Certificate at the University for the current academic year with the list of exams passed and the dates you passed the exams. You can find and print it by going on Alice web-site OR you can request it to the Students’ Office (Segreterie Studenti). The minimum to get the residence permit renewal is 1 exam in the first year and at least 2 in subsequent years. The residency permit cannot be renewed for more than three years beyond the duration of the degree programme unless the delay in the course of studies is due to serious and documented personal or family reasons. If you are a phd student enrolled to a Phd Course of ours, you have to enclose the enrollment certificate (without the exams list) by going on Alice web-site OR released to you by the Phd Office (Ufficio Dottorato), situated in Via Buonarroti 4;
- Health insurance coverage for the current year;
- Document which certifies having won a scholarship (if you have won a scholarship) or bank statement (proof) that you have enough means and financial resources during your stay in Italy. These should be not less than € 468,10 for every month of duration of the academic year and must be documented with remittances, bank deposits or other.
- Accommodation contract.
Please note: some of these documents must be enclosed with the Application Form (yellow kit/kit giallo) at the Post office.

Please beware that, if you arrived in Italy with a study visa, you enrolled to an Italian University and you wish to do a RINUNCIA AGLI STUDI (renunciation to your studies), in order to enroll again to the same or other Italian university, you cannot use the study residency permit you already have and you must get a new study visa.

The procedure for the request for the recognition of foreign degree titles for limited access programs is closed and will reopen at the end of October / November of the current year
Candidates in possession of academic qualifications obtained abroad who are interested in enrolling in a Master’s degree programme in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41), Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics (LM-46), Veterinary Medicine (LM-42) and the following Health Professions:
Dietistic – Physiotherapy – Dental Hygiene – Nursing – Speech & Language Therapy – Midwifery – Podiatry – Audioprothesic Techniques – Psychiatric Rehabilitation Techniques – Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques – Biomedical Laboratory Techniques – Imaging and Radiotherapy Techniques – Childhood Neuro and Psycomotricity.
Interested candidates must first pass the admission exam, which generally consists of a multiple-choice test that takes place every academic year, usually in the month of September. International Degree Equivalency
If you have a degree from a foreign university, you must request its equivalency to the Rector of the University of Pisa attaching the following documents:
- High School diploma: either the original or an authenticated copy, legalized (or with an "apostille"), officially translated into Italian. The diploma must be presented together with a Declaration of Value issued by the Italian diplomatic representatives (embassy or consulate) of the country where it was obtained or alternatively ENIC-NARIC certification of COMPARABILITY (go on: www.cimea.it - "Servizi");
- Academic degree: either the original or an authenticated copy, legalized (or with an "apostille"), officially translated into Italian. Please note: For the submission of the application for all study courses in the area of Medicine (Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry) and Health Professions, it is necessary to attach the ENIC-NARIC VERIFICATION declaration to the documentation, certifying that a foreign qualification from the higher education system has been issued to the holder by an Official Body in the reference system. The ENIC-NARIC certification of COMPARABILITY is also required with an indication of the level of the foreign qualification with reference to the cycles of the Bologna Process and the levels of the European Qualifications Framework, which must be produced if the Declaration of Value lacks this information (to request the ENIC-NARIC Certificate go to: www.cimea.it - "Servizi"); - Original certificate listing all exams taken in order to achieve the foreign academic degree. This list must be officially translated into Italian;
- Course descriptions, for the exams taken, on the foreign university's letterhead paper (or with official stamp) and officially translated into Italian.
- A non-authenticated copy of all the above documentation (except for the description of the courses taken mentioned at number 4)
- Photocopy of an identification document
- Photocopy of the residency permit where the reason for which it was issued is clearly stated
- Receipt of payment of 200.00 euros, which covers administrative costs. El Centro de Idiomas de la Universidad (CLi) es la estructura que promueve, organiza y gestiona cursos de idiomas para estudiantes y personal de la Universidad, así como cursos de lengua Italiana y exámenes para estudiantes Erasmus y para los estudiantes internacionales que deseen inscribirse en la Universidad de Pisa. USID
USID - Unidad de servicio para la integración de estudiantes con necesidades especiales - es una oficina que trabaja en favor de la eliminación de los obstáculos que puedan surgir entre los estudiantes con necesidades especiales y la vida universitaria. Algunos de los servicios que se ofrecen son: tutoría educativa y especializada; salón de clases y la planificación de horarios para facilitar el acceso a las aulas y otras instalaciones de la universidad, servicio de acompañante y transporte para los estudiantes con problemas de movilidad; asistencia tecnológica para el uso de computadoras y otras herramientas IT para ayudar a los diferentes tipos de necesidades especiales; el control de las barreras arquitectónicas para la eliminación inmediata de los obstáculos.

A quién se dirige
La Oficina de Bienvenida – Welcome Office se dirige a todos los huéspedes extranjeros que, por motivo de estudio, investigación o visita, permanecerán en la Universidad de Pisa.
Servicios ofrecidos
- Asistencia a la distancia para visas/visas para investigación científica
- Alojamiento
- Recibimiento al momento de la llegada a Pisa, con orientación en los servicios de Unipi
- Asistencia para el permiso de estadía, seguro médico, código fiscal
Idiomas que se hablan
Italiano, inglés, francés, portugués, español, árabe, hebreo, chino.
Horario de recibimiento
De lunes a viernes, desde las 11 hasta las 13.
